Book a doctor's appointment
Doctors (GPs) are available at the Hawthorn campus. You must book an appointment to see a GP.
- Hawthorn offers GP appointments, including vaccinations and immunisations. You can book online or visit the Health Service.
- Croydon and Wantirna do not provide GP services, please book at Hawthorn.
Book a nurse appointment
Nurses are available on all campuses. They can help with:
general health assessments
minor injuries and first aid
sexual health support and screening
guidance and referrals to further care.

Swinburne Health Service is committed to serving the diverse campus community by providing a high standard of care for the benefit of student’s and staff’s academic and life goals by enhancing their personal growth and wellbeing. The Health Service will provide a highly efficient and caring nursing, mental health, allied health and medical service to students and staff at Swinburne University of Technology as well as to the local community.
The practice is accredited with AGPAL. This means that our practice meets the standards set by the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.

Doctors
All the doctors at the Swinburne Health Service are independent medical practitioners and operate their own businesses within the service.
The doctors determine their own appointment types, availability and fees.
All the doctors are registered with AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency) and abide by the AHPRA rules and regulations.

Nurses
Nurses support students to maintain general health and wellbeing. They are available at all campuses and are a free service. To book an appointment with Croydon and Wantirna campus nurse, call the number to confirm availability.

Appointment types
You require an appointment to see a doctor. Appointments can be booked online or by calling the service.
We try to accommodate appointments for urgent problems, please call and speak to our Front desk team if you need an urgent appointment.
A Standard appointment is 15 minutes. If you wish to see the doctor for multiple or complex issues- for example a Mental Health Care Plan, please book a 30-minute appointment.
Fees
To be eligible for bulk/direct billing you must be a currently enrolled student with Medicare or hold an OSHC policy with Medibank, AHM or Allianz.
All other OSHC memberships required on the day payment with rebate available.
Pleasenote: Family members (over 16 years of age) on a Swinburne student's OSHC policy will be charged private fees (as listed below), with rebates available.
Private fees as of 1st July 2025: Applies to all other patients (community, staff, alumni students etc.)
As the doctors at the Swinburne Health Service are independent medical practitioners, they determine their own fees.

Our fees range from:
Standard consult (Item 23) $83.90- $90.00
Long consult (Item 36) $124.90- $150.00
Extended consult (Item 44) $165.10- $250.00.
(Rebates are available upon payment).
Please ensure that you register with the service using your name as it appears on your OSHC insurance policy.
You will need to register for a Individual Healthcare Identifier (IHI), this number ia auniue number to identify you for health care purposes. The service requires this to enable you to receive eScripts and to have any immunisations uploaded to the Australian Immunisation Register.

Non-attendance Policy
Strict cancellation policy: We are an appointment-based service and therefore require confirmation of attendance for all appointments. Please read below for policies relating to our GP appointments and our counselling appointments.
By booking an appointment, you are agreeing to these policies.
A reminder is sent 24 hours prior to your appointment. You must respond to this reminder within 2 hours of your appointment time.
Failure to respond to the reminder, attend your appointment on time or provide enough notice for cancellations or changes to appointment type will result in a non-arrival/late cancellation fee.
Arriving more than 10 minutes late to your appointment will also result in a missed appointment, and fees apply.
Non-arrival/Cancellation fees:
$43.90 - $84.90 depending on length of booked appointment.
Conduct Policy
The practice has a zero tolerance for abusive and/or threatening behaviour against staff. This includes shouting, swearing, argumentative behaviour, aggressive actions, threats, inappropriate gestures and name calling.
If you engage in this behaviour, you will be asked to leave the clinic and maybe requested to transfer your care to another clinic.
Mask Policy
The safety of our staff, the GPs and our patients is paramount.
If you are experiencing cold or flu-like symptoms, please let our Front Desk know so they can consider what safety measures may need to be taken.
Dr Srinath Jayasinghe requires all patients to wear a mask during his consults.
Privacy Policy

Email Policy
Our Front Desk Team aim to respond to emails within three business days of receipt. If you require a more urgent response, please call us on +613 9214 8483 between 9.00am and 4.45pm to ensure we address your query sooner.
We are unable to manage appointments or take requests for prescriptions or referrals by email. Please do not send clinical information by email unless requested to do so by your doctor/nurse.
Results process
If your doctor has requested pathology, radiology or other tests be performed, you will be notified by SMS if you are required to make a follow up appointment.
Please note that Front Desk Team members cannot provide your results.
Please ensure you provide up to date contact phone numbers so that any urgent messages can be conveyed.
